100 Best of the Decade – Part 3

A student climbs at the Vol Wall at the University of Tennessee during a photoshoot for an annual report.
Sometimes you have to sit back and watch for the off moments. A blind honoree chats with his host after leaving a speaking engagement with students. A plus to my job is the amount of motivating speaker I have been able to hear over the years.
High school wrestling match at Rocky Top Sports World in Gatlinburg, TN.
For many years I photographed the girls’ floor routine during Flip Fest in the bottom of the Knoxville Convention Center. Seeing the same routines would become repetitive and boring after a while. That is why finding exciting emotion like was always a blessing.
Best friends decided to have their senior photos made together. I am always looking a clean background, luckily the sky helped out.
Toilet paper hangs from the vibrant fall colored trees inside the Presidential Court while walking around looking for features photos at the University of Tennessee.
Advertising photos for Smoky Mountain Opry. When they pulled this motorcycle out, I said we have to get you jumping over in like a rock star. Bam!
Family lifestyle photos with talent at Greystone Lodge in Gatlinburg, TN for The Spining Group.
As a boy scout and photojournalist, I was taught to always be prepared. That includes going to Papa Johns to pick up pizza for the family. In the parking lot there were crazy clowns promoting their Halloween store in the same building. I grabbed a camera, light and made a few frames while waiting on my pizza. Then bye bye.
A daughter and mom play in a life size snow globe as part of an advertising photo shoot at Dollywood’s Holly Jolly Junction.
Sport photography is part of the reason I became a photographer. So getting out to shoot sports of any level is always fun for me. This is from my nephew’s AAU basketball team. The venue may not be as exciting as college athletic but the action is still good.
This one maybe a cheat of 100 images. It was another impromptu portrait session. My son’s third grade class had to dress up like a historical figure. While dropping him off a school, I thought it might make a good photo series. I went home grabbed my gear, returned to school, setup a small studio in the classroom and photographed each student. I also had them sign their character’s name to be added to their photo.
An advertising photo for a new show at Smoky Mountain Opry in Pigeon Forge, TN. This is one of my favorite photos I made for them over the years.
Portrait of Dolly Parton in her suite at DreamMore Resort in Pigeon Forge, TN. She is as delightful as you think to work with.
For this image I hung a camera out over a 70ft drop as talent launched down Fire Tower Falls during an advertising photo shoot for Dollywood Splash Country.
“Most people have a shotgun hanging over their mantle. I have a garden hoe signed by a swimsuit model.”
The field inside Neyland Stadium was completely removed so that it could be replaced. To me, the dirt floor makes it look like an old coliseum waiting for lions to rush out of the tunnels.
Here is one from a portrait series of patients of the College of Dentistry for annual report at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN. The series was shot in a busy hallway. You can see more from this photo shoot in a previous blog post. https://stevenbridges.com/higher-education-annual-report/
A guitarist and pyro kick off the live performance of the Smoky Mountain Opry Christmas show.
Not everyone wants a photo with Santa. These are the best Santa photos, in my opinion.
